Travel tips for Reno/Tahoe: After traveling to South Lake Tahoe from Sacramento, I wondered why did I drive to Reno. I could have lost my money in Carson City or back at South Lake Tahoe in that nice smoke free casino. Reno is a bore and they need to learn how to cluster the casinos. Next time I will stay at Tahoe for the entire trip.
South Lake Tahoe (I am a CO native) is as pretty as anything that we have in the Rockies. With four good size casinos and a couple baby casinos you can loose all your money and not have to drive to that "R" town. Carson City is the same distance as Castle Rock/Northglenn. There is a great Italian Food place on main drag called TEP's Villa Roma (I am also 100% Italian). We took a guided horseback tour up the mountain from Zephyrs Cove, it was great. Bring a camera. The skiing sucked, but when they have snow, ski Heavenly, it is Vail class. Since I knew I was going to loose my shirt at the tables I stayed at the Super 8 motel on the main drag. Nice size room, clean, free wheaties in the morning, and very helpful staff.
Hint: If you do not carry your laptop with you (why anyone does that kills me) use the local public library or college library in town to get to myfrontier or print your boarding pass. It is free! There were two just off the main drag in South Lake Tahoe.
